Fractures to the middle portion of the foot are often related to a forceful movement of the foot when part of the foot is stabilized. An example of this would be horseback riding, with the front part of the foot in the stirrup. A fall could produce a midfoot fracture. These fractures are often missed on initial x-rays, therefore, they are one of the most commonly misdiagnosed injuries we see.
