Born in Puerto Rico, Dr. Volkmann and his family migrated across the country to Olympia, Washington soon after his father finished his physician’s residency through Columbia University. In the great Pacific Northwest, Dr. Volkmann had an active childhood that included skiing, backpacking, soccer, football, and competitive swimming.
Upon completing his undergrad at Evergreen State College and Seattle University, Dr. Volkmann landed a job as an orthopaedic technologist for the athletic department at San Diego State. It was here that he realized his true passion for podiatry and sports medicine.
He launched head-first into a post-baccalaureate program in biological and chemical sciences at the American University in our nation’s capital, and then completed medical school at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine to earn his DPM. He completed his surgical residency at the Dept. of Veteran’s Affairs in L.A. before finding a long-term home in the Santa Clarita Valley with UFAI Valencia.
Dr. Volkmann specializes in sports medicine and surgical management of the foot and ankle, and will be available for appointments in the Valencia office beginning in September.
Warmest welcome, Dr. Volkmann!
