When we opened the doors to our practice over a decade ago, our goal at University Foot and Ankle Institute (UFAI) was to provide leading-edge foot care, from start to finish. We have met our objective by employing the most-advanced technologies available with truly individualized patient care.
Because of our commitment to education in state-of-the-art technology and progressive diagnostic techniques, UFAI physicians are sought after throughout North America and Europe to participate in leading-edge research. As a recognized leader in foot and ankle care, our group has lectured in almost every state in the country and around the world.
There are no “one-size fits all” treatments at UFAI, we treat each patient individually because each foot and ankle is truly different. Evaluating a patient’s physical condition is just one part of creating an effective treatment plan. We believe it is essential to also learn about each patients lifestyles and the physical challenges that that both their professional and personal lives wil present them while healing.
Over the past 30 years, additional research and understanding of the biomechanic complexities of the ankle joint has led to improved implants and better implant materials. Surgeons at University Foot and Ankle Institute are proud to be one of the few centers that have expertise in Total Ankle Replacement Surgery also known as Total Ankle Arthroplasty.
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy heals using platelets from your own blood, and is becoming known as a break-through cure for hard-to-heal tendons. The University Foot and Ankle Institute works closely with scientists in the burgeoning field of PRP.
We are proud to be one of the only centers in the Western United States to offer high-intensity and low-intensity Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (EWST). Our team of physicians is specially trained in EWST, and ready to suggest a detailed program to reduce your heel pain.
Stem cell therapy is a remarkable technology once considered science fiction. Now it is a scientific fact and represents a viable treatment option. At the University Foot and Ankle Institute, healing typically begins with a conservative treatment plan. However, when necessary, our physicians employ advanced technology. The Topaz Microdebrider wand uses radiofrequency energy to cause microscopic “trauma” to scar tissue. This increases blood flow to the affected area and facilitates healing of the sore tendon.
RelēF is a non-invasive procedure, easily performed to provide relief of pain associated with persistent tendon and ligament conditions. By stimulating the body’s natural healing process by inciting your own wound healing response, RelēF prompts damaged tissue to heal from within.
Through a rapid and limited deep freezing of the affected area, nerve or fascia pain may be resolved with a simple and comfortable office procedure. Custom molded orthotics are designed to support and comfort your feet, and only your feet. Custom orthotics offer treatment and relief for a variety of foot and ankle problems including ankle instability, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, bunion deformity and arthritis. Every situation and every foot requires a different amount of control and positioning and every foot has a unique arch and foot type. For these reasons, custom orthotics are significantly more effective than over-the-counter type shoe inserts.
University Foot and Ankle Institute is committed to offering the best diagnostic tools in the most convenient environment.
