Why OSSIOfiber®

Traditional metal implant materials have not significantly changed in over 100 years. These permanent implants can often lead to ongoing discomfort, painful swelling, and sensitivity to cold temperatures. In fact, in 25% of cases, these metal implants lead to additional procedures to remove them.1

The OSSIOfiber® difference

OSSIOfiber® allows your doctor to perform the surgical procedure that is best for you. The implant is the difference.

This means:

  • Strength during the healing phase
  • Avoids additional surgery for hardware removal
  • Full integration into your own bone

Avoid the complications of the old metal implants. Just your own fully functional self.

Anne Headshot

I developed pain in both feet after years of wearing pointy shoes and high heels. Initially, I wanted to avoid surgery for as long as I could. But when I found out about the OSSIOfiber option that includes a more natural approach without using foreign substances, like metal, I decided to move forward with surgery, and I’m happy I did.

Ellen Headshot

I was in chronic pain for two years but was reluctant to have surgery because I didn’t want to take time off. I was on board when I learned OSSIOfiber® hones in on the body’s own ability to heal. I was on my feet quickly, and I’m thrilled with the outcome of my surgery.

Ellen

Anita Headshot

I knew someone who had a screw come out and had to go back into surgery. OSSIOfiber naturally grows into the bone, so this will be a one-time surgery for me. After years of living in agony, I’m pain-free, and it’s had such a positive impact on my life.

Frequently asked questions about OSSIOfiber®

Considering surgery for your bunion or hammertoe and want to know more about what makes the procedure with OSSIOfiber® different? Take a look below to get answers to our most commonly asked questions so you’re ready to talk to our doctor.

  • What makes OSSIOfiber® an all-natural solution?

OSSIOfiber® is built with 50% natural mineral fibers found in bone and 50% natural polymer, materials that have been successfully used in surgeries for over 30 years. The OSSIOfiber® implant will then be replaced by your own bone as you heal, leaving just your fully functional self behind.

  • Can other procedures be performed with OSSIOfiber®?

Yes. OSSIOfiber® can be used in procedures for bone fractures, realignment, bone fusions and grafts when used with appropriate additional immobilization products, like casts and braces. These procedures can be conducted in both the foot/ankle and the hand/wrist.

You should consult with your doctor on whether OSSIOfiber® is appropriate for your needs.

  • How long will it take for me to be healed and OSSIOfiber® to be fully integrated into your own bone?

OSSIOfiber® implants provide strength during the healing phase of your procedure and fully integrate into your bone over an 18 to 24 month period. OSSIOfiber® is the only implant solution that is there when you need it and gone after you don’t.

  • Are OSSIOfiber® procedures covered by insurance?

Yes, OSSIOfiber® procedures are covered by most commercial insurance plans, Medicare, and Medicaid just like metal implants.

  • Does OSSIOfiber® work differently than metal hardware?

They can even lead to a second procedure years later to remove the implant.1-3
