University Foot and Ankle Institute Sponsors Women’s All American Tennis Championships

Every year, during the first week of October, the Women’s All American Tennis Championships (W.A.A.T.C) is held in Los Angeles and hosted at The Riviera Tennis Club. This year more than 120 collegiate players from over 40 Division I colleges will be competing in this, the thirtieth anniversary of this great event.

The W.A.A.T.C. event was first held at the club in 1984 with Riviera members Dr. Fred Ho, John Alle and former member Jane Goodman spearheading the tournament. The event is generously sponsored by corporations and by club members, some of whom also host players in their homes for the duration of the tournament. Housing players is one of the highlights of the tournament for many members.

This year, for the first time, University Foot and Ankle Institute is sponsoring the event. Dr. Bob Baravarian, UFAI’s co-director and former collegiate competitor on the University of Southern California tennis team is proud to be able to play a key role in making this year’s tournament great.

“Tennis is a lifelong sport and I have enjoyed playing competitive tennis my entire life,” states Dr. Baravarian.“Our Institute offers exceptional expertise in sports medicine of the foot and ankle due to our physician’s decades of experience in health care and competitive experience in sports and dance. We truly get what it takes to stay in tip-top physical condition to excel’ says Baravarian.

Please join Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Facebook page for updates on this year’s event or to share your Riviera Women’s All American tournament experiences on the ITA Tennis website.
