Dr. Ryan Carter was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He was raised in a sports family, spending many hours on the practice fields, running on the track, or at professional sporting events. Despite his love for sports, he excelled in the classroom and always enjoyed anatomy and science. He attended the University of Missouri, Columbia where he received his bachelor’s degree in Biology. During his time in Columbia he played on the men’s lacrosse team and was captain during his senior year.
He then moved to Glendale, Arizona where he received his medical degree at Midwestern University Arizona School of Podiatric Medicine. While attending school, he was the President of the Midwestern University student chapter of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine.
Dr. Carter then completed a three year surgical residency at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara, California. He received comprehensive training in all aspects of the foot and ankle, including forefoot and rearfoot reconstructive surgery, limb salvage, and traumatology. He served as chief resident during his final year of residency.
Upon completing residency, Dr. Carter received an additional year of training at the Silicon Valley Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Fellowship with Palo Alto Medical Foundation in Mountain View, California. During his time there he continued to train in sports medicine, arthroscopy, foot and ankle trauma, minimally invasive surgery, and total ankle replacement.
When not working he enjoys watching football and basketball as well as professional and international soccer. He also enjoys running and looks forward to spending time relaxing in the sun or with his 10 year old corgi Kobe.

My son had a recent surgery there and I cant say enough about the level of professionalism and client service. The Doctor (Dr. Carter) was incredibly knowledgeable, kind and his response time to questions was faster than any other Doctor we have dealt with. He was extremely kind and patient with my son who has a rare neurological disability which makes it difficult to communicate with him.
Dr. Carter was flawless and worked with my son to make him comfortable. Everyone in the office who I encountered was kind, professional and patient with my many questions. I highly recommend them. Five star service!
