Dr. Thomas Shin, DPM

Updated 9/24/2018

Dr. Thomas Shin, DPM, joins the UFAI team after serving the Los Angeles area since 2009. He has practiced podiatric medicine for over 15 years, specializing in both functional and cosmetic corrective foot care. Dr. Shin is certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, and, in addition to English, speaks fluent Korean.

The mechanics of the foot and ankle have always fascinated Dr. Shin, and as an undergrad at Boston University, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering. From there, he went on to study podiatry in Chicago, at the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine (yes, that Dr. Scholl!).

Dr. Shin’s holistic approach to podiatry enables him to treat each patient as a whole individual, and not just a body made up of moving parts. He understands that physical symptoms can be manifestations of systemic issues, and that small changes in one part of the body can impact other functions in ways that aren’t immediately apparent.

Dr. Shin treats a broad range of foot and ankle conditions. He is experienced in diabetic foot care, pregnancy-related foot care, corrective surgeries, orthopedics, and sports medicine. His practice includes cosmetic treatment as well, including warts and nail fungus. He also specializes in foot trauma and deformities, such as heel pain, plantar fasciitis, bunions, hammertoes, flat feet, fractures, and sprains.

Dr. Shin strives to provide all patients with pain-free treatment options with minimal side effects. He treats patients from children to seniors, from a variety of backgrounds, using minimally-invasive techniques and state-of-the-art technology.
