Dr. Baravarian talks about ankle fractures, their treatment and way to avoid complications.
.

Fractures are actual breaks in the bone and can vary from a tiny crack to a shattering break. It's very important that fractures are immediately diagnosed and treated to receive the best possible outcome.

Early treatment can greatly increase your chances of avoiding surgery or permanent damage. We have foot and ankle specialists with decades of experience in foot and ankle trauma.

As trained specialists we have the unique ability to handle the most complex cases using the very latest techniques and technologies available to assure the finest possible outcomes.

  • Fractures and breaks can range from a tiny crack to a shattered bone. Prompt and proper care is essential in avoiding permanent damage.

  • A broken toe, or metatarsal may also be called a fracture and falls into one of two categories, traumatic breaks and stress fractures.

  • Broken ankles range from a small fracture to a shattering break. They are the most under-treated orthopedic condition leading to early onset arthritis and chronic ankle instability.

  • Fractures to the middle portion of the foot are often the result of a twisting injury or direct impact.  They are rare and often misdiagnosed.

  • A Jones fracture is a common fracture that occurs where the long bones in your foot connect to the pinky toe. Because this area receives a limited blood supply, making healing difficult.

  • A fractured heel is usually seen in patients who have landed on their feet after a long fall, or who were in the front seat of a car during an accident.
